Co-investment fund for Cleantech investments

If you are 'keystone' investor, South West Cleantech Co-investment Fund (SWCCF) could match your new equity investment, subject to certain parameters, £ for £ in eligible companies.

To be eligible for a SWCCF loan, a company must be based in the South West of England and involved in energy generation, storage, efficiency and infrastructure or transportation, although other businesses may also be eligible.

The Fund will only provide a loan alongside your new equity investment if you are:

  • a successful business angel / have a venture capital track record
  • able to demonste an understanding of the sector in which the business operates

SWCCF is a passive investment fund, investing alongside keystone investors. The focus of the Fund's due dilligence is therefore upon the keystone investor and you will need to complete a pre-approval process that includes:

  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Business and commercial experience
  • Investment track record
  • Investment criteria
  • Due dilligence process
  • Background checks (credit rating, Companies House)
  • References (2)

You will also need to have an arm's length business relationship with the promoter or founders of the business (previous round investors will not however be excluded) and there are restrictions on how the loan can be used (e.g. not for refinancing).

Minimum Loan = £50,000

Maximum Loan = £100,000

See the link below for the Main Terms and an overview of the Keystone Approval Process.
